Programme United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) warned in its annual report that the marine environment in the world is at risk, high amounts of phosphorus and plastic that drain into it.
According to the document published in Mexico on behalf of the United Nations Organization (UNO), the risk of the marine environment also involves dangers to human health.
pollution as a result of phosphorus and other substances derived from human activities, mainly industrial, such as nitrogen and sewage caused algae blooms.
latter has produced fish poisoning with the consequent impairment of the equilibrium ocean, besides affecting the tourism sector around the world.
The report warns that industrial plastics discharged to the sea, in particular those with less than five millimeters in size can cause serious damage to health.
these plastics are believed to affect the fish that mistake them for food and die, but also accumulate toxic substances that may cause endocrine disruption, mutations and even cancer.
In this regard, the paper considers it urgent to end these practices, clean the oceans as far as possible and set more ambitious programs for recycling.
